BioXpert V2 is Applikon's advanced supervisory control and data-acquisition software for optimization and automation of biotechnological processes on laboratory, pilot plant and production scale.
Process information
Up to 16 bioreactor systems can be monitored and controlled simultaneously.
The program offers on-line and off-line data acquisition, supervisory control, alarm handling, logbook, calculation of derived variables and many other functions. All measured and calculated data can be displayed as synoptic, chart and table. Data can easily be exported to other programs such as Excel or Word.
Additional process information
Additional devices such as balances and analyzers can be connected using a standard RS 232 cable. To connect analog controllers to BioXpert an ADDA-converter is available.
BioXpert also facilitates the storage and presentation of “off-line” measurement results.
Data from external off-line sources, like a Glucose Analyzer, Biomass measurement, Cell counts a.o. can be entered and stored into BioXpert to be used for calculations and presentation.
Variables
BioXpert V2 supports On-line variables, Off-line variables, Constants, and Formulas. Per on-line variable a sample interval can be defined.
Data presentation
table format
graphic display
scatter plot
synoptic display
In table format the actual measurements are listed against time.
Measured data can be presented in graphic display. A maximum of 20 parameters can be shown simultaneously in one graph. The line graph is plotted against time.
The scatter plot enables presentation of data against any other parameter. This way correlation between parameters can be reviewed. Product yield can be displayed when substrate concentration is plotted versus product concentration.
Both graphic display and scatter plots can be used to view several current cultures, current and old cultures or multiple old cultures in one graph.
The synoptic display shows the actual bioreactor system with the actual measurements and settings. From the synoptic display, setpoints can be changed and the status of control loops can be changed.
Data storage
All measured on-line and off-line data are stored. User notes, alarm messages and additional experiment information is stored in a separate file.
Supervisory control consists of statements and profiles. Profiles allow time based setpoint changes in different modes (line, spline and constant). Statements are used to perform time and/or event based control actions.
These control actions can be simple changes of setpoint based on measured values but they can even be used to create an expert system for your bioprocess.
The formula editor and interpreter are used to calculate derived variables like RQ, OUR, CER and others.
All measured and calculated data can be exported to other programs in table format and as graphics.
